Hick’s died near Omaha but the cause of death is still unclear.Reports say the former football star was found lying dead on an Interstate. Omaha news says Hicks was discovered lying on Interstate 480 outside downtown Friday around 8:30 am under an interchange of North Freeway and I-480.

Hicks was found lying on Interstate 480 near downtown Omaha about 8:30 a.m., on the freeway under bridges that form the I-480 and North Freeway interchange, police said. Paramedics rushed him to the Nebraska Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police continued to investigate his death but had released few details by Friday night and would not speculate about what happened. Authorities said a cause of death determination would not be made until after an autopsy, scheduled for this morning.Family members, reached at home on Friday evening, declined to comment, saying they needed more time.
