Jerry Lewis Awarded Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at Oscar
Jerry Lewis, looking less bloated than in recent years but struggling a bit as he spoke, gave a short and sweet acceptance speech as he was given the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. Lewis, who'll be 83 next month and is still doing muscular dystrophy fund-raising, said, "For most of my life, I thought that doing good for someone didn’t mean you would receive commendation for that act of kindness -- until now. This award touches my heart and the very depths of my soul because of who the award is from ... I thank you and I thank the Academy. ... It’s such a joy being part of you and everything you do."
